This course outlines the various types of eating disorders that young people may suffer from, how to recognise these conditions, and how to support young people. The course also contains statistics and information specific to Scotland.

The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:

• To be aware of the “ideal body image”
• To understand what eating disorders are
• To know the different types of eating disorders
• To be aware of the statistics surrounding eating disorders
• To understand what causes eating disorders
• To be aware of the signs and symptoms of eating disorders
• To understand whether eating disorders can be “cured”
• To know the risks and complications of eating disorders
• To know where to go for further support and advice

This course meets the Children’s Home Quality Standards as outlined in The Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and Children’s Homes Quality Standards 2015.
